Board Director
Election Information
Section 54.102 of the Texas
Water Code requires that to be qualified to serve as a
Director of the District, a person shall be at least 18
years old, a resident citizen of the State of Texas, and
either own land subject to taxation in the District or be a
qualified voter within the District.
Section 49.052 of the Texas Water Code provides that a
person is disqualified from serving as a Director of the
District as provided therein.
Chapter 573, Texas Government
Code, the nepotism law, applies to Directors of the
District.
If a person wishes to apply for a place on the ballot for
the upcoming May 10, 2008 Directors election, he or she must
complete the
application form before a notary public and
return the completed form to the District’s attorneys, no
later than 5:00 p.m. on March 10, 2008. Such forms will be
available on the District’s website and from the District's
attorney, phone: 512-XXX-XXXX. Detailed information on local
elections, forms needed, instructions, and political
advertising guides are available on the
Texas Ethics
Commission web site.
Applicants should review
Section 49.052 of the Texas Water
Code,
Chapter 573 of the Texas Government Code, and
Section
54.102 of the Texas Water Code, copies of which will be
provided with each application form and on the District’s
website.
Three Director Places on the Board are up for election this
year. Each Place is for a full four-year term. The Places up
for election are: Place One held by Keith Collins, Place
Three held by Jo Jones, and Place Five held by Chuck Simms.
Under Title 15 of the Election Code, candidates running for
an office of a local political subdivision must file
campaign contribution and expenditure reports with the
secretary of the governing body. These

filings are available on this web site.
Early voting will begin on April 28, 2008.
